EVSİD Chairman Özger: If the exchange rate increases by 7-10 percent, exporters will be relieved

Home and Kitchenware Manufacturers and Exporters Association (EVSİD) Chairman Talha Özger said that he expects the exchange rate to increase in the first and second quarters of 2023 and that the increasing exchange rate will be positive for exporters. Özger said, “If the exchange rate increases by 7-10 percent, it will be a relief for us.” Home and Kitchenware Manufacturers and Exporters Association (EVSİD) Chairman Talha Özger said that they expect an increase in the exchange rate in the first two quarters of 2023. Speaking to Bloomberg HT at the meeting where the home and kitchenware sector announced its 2023 targets, Özger said, “The exchange rate will increase a little more in the first and second quarters of this year and this increase will be better for us. If the exchange rate increases in the future, we can reflect the increasing costs and increases in labor wages to exports. Our current plus side is that raw material prices are stable. We did not make major price increases in our export markets to keep the export wheels turning. We did not increase prices in order not to lose our customers. “If the exchange rate increases by 7-10 percent, it will be a relief for us,” he said. “There will be a 10-15 percent increase in prices in the first quarter” Özger said that there will be an increase in prices in the household goods sector in the first quarter of 2023 and continued his words as follows: We increased our prices gradually in 2022. We did not make sudden price increases even when raw material prices tripled. It will be the same this year. In terms of time, there will be a 10-15 percent increase in the first quarter.
